There has been a lot of speculation and rumors going around about when the iPhone 5 will be released and what it will look like and it's functionality. Numerous reports have said that Apple plans to introduce the iPhone 5 in early September and then release it in the coming weeks after. The rumors about the new iPhone is that it is expected to of course be faster, thinner and have a larger screen display.There is high anticipation for this iPhone as it should set the bar higher in the smartphone industry.

Sprint this month reduced the price of the iPhone 4S by $50 which sparked rumors and talk about the Apple iPhone 5 being on it's way in the coming months. This phone will of course be available on carriers such as Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T. Many individuals who were disappointed by the minor upgrade from the iPhone 4 to 4S will most likely get the iPhone 5 because it will be a completely new and different phone.

Apple iPhone 4S Sales Tops 4 Million

Apple has set records again with the iPhone 4S topping 4 million sales in it's opening weekend. Apple has had a pretty consistent trend of beating records with it's products specifically with the iPhone. Apple is expected to sell 75 million iPhones within this fiscal year, there are 1.5 billion phones globally so they are just scratching the surface.

As usualy many Apple consumers and fans lined up and slept out in the cold and rain to be the first to get the iPhone 4S. Even Apple cofounder Steve Wozniak lined up to get the iPhone 4S. Since the dealth of Steve Jobs the iPhone 4S has been renamed to iPhone 4 Steve. This will be one of the most famous iPhone releases as it will be associated with the dealth of Steve Jobs.

Smartphone Wars : Apple vs. Samsung

We may still be weeks away from the launch of Apple's iPhone 5 but rival Samsung already has what it hopes will be the answer to the new iPhone. If it's one competitor that has hurt Steve Jobs it's Samsung, Apple has accused Samsung of copying the iPhone and iPad designs too closely. And whether the courts find Samsung guilty or not customers seem to like what they are selling. According to IDC Samsing Q2 Smartphone sales were up 381% putting it second place behind who else but Apple. Here are the Smartphone sales stats for Apple and Samsung:

So to keep this momentum going Samsung is releasing the Galaxy S2 in the U.S. in a couple of weeks. These are likely to do well here, they have already launched in Europe and Asia and reportedly shopped 5 million units in less than 3 months. So how are these different from the iPhone? Google's Android platform has a lot more voice control features and the S2's screen is bigger than the iPhone's screen. It's going to set up an interesting battle in the Smartphone market, the U.S, and in the coming holiday season.

So is the Galaxy S2 a challenge for Apple? maybe not as much as a challenge as Apple's own logistics. Apple will have to roll out the new iPhone line twice as fast as usual during the biggest selling quarter and remember they've had trouble keeping up with iPhone demand all year anyway. Apple also has competition in the Tablet market as Sony is looking to price it's Android based Tablet S at the same price of the iPad, which is $499. Crazy you say? well Sony may not have any choice, Apple's cost are the lowest in the biz and it's distribution is the best, so for anyone to make any money they have to price close to the iPad.
